CCT Members Present AITES to Top Businesses and Industries
On December 13, 2011, CCT members Sarah Helton and Pat Farmer presented the Community Partner Program to IT staff at Alpha Natural Resources. On December 15, Ms. Helton and Ms. Farmer presented the same program to several staff members at General Dynamics. The participants expressed surprise at the statistics that demonstrated how few women pursue IT jobs and careers. Ms. Helton and Ms. Farmer informed the staff of certificates offered at the local community colleges and expressed a need for more education about the barriers women face in pursuing IT jobs and careers.
