Beckley-Stratton Middle School CCT's Hold Third AITES Event
On March 27, 2012, after-school mentors/ teachers, parents, and girls attended an informative AITES event at Beckley-Stratton Middle School Library in Beckley, WV. Ms. Barbara Warden conducted the activity which began with the video "You Can Be Anything," with the "Power of Partners," presentation given afterward. Participants were urged to become stokers to encourage and support girls' interest in IT careers. Kathy Lazenby, a Raleigh County Public Schools IT professional, shared her interesting journey to a career in IT, and Melissa Aquilar from Region 1 Work Force West Virginia provided materials for the audience concerning IT opportunities in her region. Ms. Warden discussed that summer jobs were available through the Workforce office for girls interested in exploring the field of IT.
