Knott County CCT's Present to School Board and Chamber of Commerce

On February 2, 2012, CCT Members, Sandra Strouth, Lisa Cox, and Ginger Johnson informed their local school board members of the IT talent crisis in the U.S. The board members were surprised that only 13% of the IT workforce is made up of women.The CCT's explained how important adult influence is to young women and gave the board members ideas on how they can become an AITES Stoker. The board accepted the challenge and expressed their appreciation to the CCT's for the information.




On February 23, 2012, Sandra Strouth and Lisa Cox presented the AITES Community Partner Program to the Knott County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. The Chamber members were very receptive to the challenge to "stoke," young women by providing information to the community and to young women about the current IT talent crisis in the U.S. The group did not realize that young women face barriers as they consider career choices in IT fields. They pledged to share the information in hopes it would assist in economic development efforts.
